Digging In Deeper

image

Deep Roots in ink Nov 2015

“But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.  He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.  It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.  It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”  Jeremiah 17:7-8

Friends, dig your roots in deep so that when tough things come your way for a season, you can still bear fruit!

Deep Roots

wpid-wp-1445270102741.jpeg

I just finished the first painting in my new series Deep Roots. It explores the idea that our lives can be deeper and more well rooted than we may appear above to other people. But if our lives are planted in God we have the ability to thrive in Him, the living water no matter what our circumstances are.
I’m excited to produce another work of art for the first time in a long time! I hope you enjoy it. Please give me feedback if it speaks to you in any way.

Back Again!

I am reopening my jewelry and art site on Etsy today!

I am loving motherhood, with my ever-active, two-year old son, Zequi, and my two totally creative and very interesting and intelligent stepchildren, Lili and Diego (grade school and middle school ages).  They are inspiring.  I am learning to be a child again and enjoy simple things.  I know that is totally over-used to say that, but I really sat in the swimming pool with my clothes on blissfully splashing just to splash to see why on earth my two-year old was squealing with joy…and behold…it WAS fun!

I do have my art shed in which to store my tools and creativity, which is my “wo-Man cave,” but with a 2 year old to look after, I haven’t gotten to hang out there much.  Every time I step in there, however, I enter a world of creativity with so many half-captured ideas and unfinished explorations in art, that I cannot wait for more time to spend there to finish my artistic adventures.

Currently, my family is planning a missions trip to Puebla, Mexico.  We will be helping/working at an “orphanage” which helps children who have been abandoned either by family that could not support them, that were abusive, or who really have no family.  My jewelry and art sales will be going toward my family’s journey there in January of 2015.  We went at the end of last year, and my husband has a real love for this ministry and what it happening there.  It is one of the best run organizations I have gotten to see, and I have gotten to see inside of many over the years.

Keep creative!

Milk Art with Zekie

the milk artist

Here is my 14 month old son who has decided that milk, a bottle, and the floor are great media to work with. I wasn’t thrilled with the mess on the floor, but since he wouldn’t stop, and I am an artist as well, I gave in to his way of thinking.  My other son put it this way after I scolded Zekie recently: “Yes, Zekie, you should draw with crayons on the wall instead, or use paint instead of milk.”  That put it into perspective and I decided that milk on the floor was a lot easier to clean than those options.  I do have him clean up when he is done which he actually enjoys doing as well.  Here are a couple of his works of art.  What do you see in them?  We enjoy looking for the picture in these.

Reopening of M Jolie’s Etsy Shop

Yes, it has been a while!  I have been adjusting to being married to a great guy (almost a year now) and we are due to have a baby boy (Zekie) in early September, and I have been working full time until just this summer, but I have a little more art time now.  On top of all of that good news, I will have a little workshop finally set up in my back yard for art…a dream come true.  I will post a picture of my workshop once it has been built…hopefully in the next 3 weeks this will be happening.

As gallery sales have not been as busy as they have in the past, I am going to be concentrating on selling my jewelry on the internet mostly through Etsy.  My one of a kind art jewelry can be viewed and purchased at http://www.etsy.com/shop/mjoliedesigns?ref=si_shop  While you are browsing my store on Etsy, don’t forget to check out all of the other wonderful shops there as well.  My friend Becky has a great shop called Quality Cut that is also on Etsy.  She specializes in making wood pens which make great Christmas gifts.

Please have fun looking around, and do keep an eye on what items will be coming ahead.

Painting for Pleasure!

My two step children are so creative, I am truly amazed on a regular basis!  We went and bought canvas board from the store this past week so that I could encourage them in their creativity. they decided we would draw and paint imaginary creatures, and we did!

I forgot how nice it is to produce art just for the pure joy of being creative. I painted a creature, too, and though it would never sell and is nowhere near anything I am proud to say I painted, I loved every minute of it. I need to get back to that simple joy of painting for pleasure!

A Good Busy

Well, you may have noticed that I haven’t posted much recently!  I have been doing custom jewelry lately, and have much going on.  I will be getting married next month, to a wonderful man, and so I have been quite busy with wedding plans and a new job (not so new anymore), and the idea of moving to Menomonee Falls.

Jewelry making has been put off for a month or two during this time, but I will be renewing my creativity afterwards. We have some long term plans of building a small workshop in the back, where I can set up my equipment more permanently than I have yet been able to do.  It is possible my little log-cabinesque dream workshop will come true!  We will see.  If all of my jewelry supplies sit around my fiance’s house long enough, it might motivate him to help me build the workshop sooner!

That is what is happening with me.  I hope all is well with you.  I’ll check back in after the wedding in August, and let you know what I am up to!
